Computing
At Tendring Primary School, we want our pupils to become confident and responsible users of technology. Our computing curriculum follows the National Curriculum and is supported by the Teach Computing (NCCE) approach, helping children develop skills in computer science, information technology and digital literacy. Pupils learn how to understand and create algorithms, explore programming using concepts like sequence, selection and repetition, and develop their computational thinking by solving problems and debugging their work. Learning is carefully sequenced so that children build skills step by step, using a range of digital tools and devices to create, explore and present their ideas.
We also place a strong emphasis on helping children stay safe and responsible online. Pupils learn about online safety, privacy and respectful digital behaviour, giving them the knowledge needed to use technology confidently in everyday life. Through engaging, practical lessons, children are encouraged to be creative, collaborate with others and think critically about the digital world around them. By the end of primary school, we aim for all pupils to have a solid foundation in computing, along with the skills and understanding they need to move on successfully to secondary school and beyond.
