Religious Education

Our vision for Religious Education is for children to become thoughtful, curious and respectful learners who develop a deep understanding of religious and non-religious worldviews. Through theology, children explore where beliefs come from, how they are expressed through stories, texts and traditions and how they shape the lives of believers. Through philosophy, children are encouraged to ask big questions, think critically, reason carefully and reflect on issues of meaning, truth, right and wrong. Through human and social sciences, children learn how beliefs influence individuals, communities and societies, recognising diversity both within and between religions and worldviews. Across the curriculum, pupils build secure subject knowledge, fluent vocabulary and the confidence to express their own ideas respectfully, enabling them to develop empathy, understanding and a well-informed view of the world and their place within it.
