Forest Schools
Our Forest School curriculum is designed to nurture confident, resilient, and environmentally aware learners through hands-on, outdoor experiences. Rooted in nature-based education, it empowers children to develop practical skills, creativity, and teamwork while fostering a deep respect for the natural world.
We aim to:
- Connect with Nature – Inspire curiosity, observation, and care for the environment through seasonal exploration, wildlife awareness, and sustainable practices.
- Develop Practical Skills – Build competence in woodcraft, fire lighting, shelter construction, and rope work, ensuring safety, responsibility, and mastery over time.
- Encourage Risk-Taking & Problem-Solving – Provide opportunities for supported risk-taking, enabling children to assess situations, make decisions, and adapt to challenges.
- Foster Collaboration & Independence – Promote teamwork, communication, and leadership while also encouraging self-reliance and personal responsibility.
- Support Wellbeing – Use the calming and restorative power of nature to enhance emotional resilience, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging.
I love going to the woods each week. I get to make a swing. Each week I try to make my swing better.
I used to be scared of climbing but now I know I can climb it safely.
The woodland area is great to play in and I work with other children that I don’t normally work with in class.
